Biography

Lauren Bristol Gipson, a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, is excited to be working in Sumner County where she has lived since 2012. After graduating from Belmont University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing she received a commission in the United States Navy where she served as an active duty Nurse Corps Officer for nearly six year. While serving on active duty Lauren had the opportunity to serve as a core member of the USNS Comfort staff where she discovered her love for pediatrics while caring for children after natural disasters.  While serving as Division Officer of the DoD’s largest Mother-Baby unit Lauren was able to obtain lactation counselor certification and served on multidisciplinary committees to promote breastfeeding support for both active duty and dependent military mothers.

In 2012, Lauren left active duty and began working as a NICU nurse at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.  In 2014 she began a new job as a Float Nurse for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and gained experience in the ED, PICUs, PACU, cardiology, hematology/oncology, acute care floors, and outpatient after hours clinics while continuing to work shifts in the NICU and newborn nursery.  After ten years of bedside nursing, Lauren was excited to graduate with her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree and has been working as a PNP in the middle Tennessee area since 2018.  Lauren remains a passionate advocate for supporting lactation education and breastfeeding families, and also loves to support and encourage families with special or complex medical needs.

Lauren has continued to serve in the US Navy Reserve since leaving active duty and recently completed her 16th year of military service.  She is an active member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville where she has become an active devotional writer who shares her journey as a remarried widow.
